A Fitness item you can’t Buy
I wanted to talk about something that I know many people struggle with. Hopefully, this gives you some perspective, and to really understand my point here, I want you to stick with me to the end of this email—it’ll all make sense. No, seriously, no skimming. I’m watching you… in a totally non-creepy way.
Here’s the thing: There’s something crucial to getting in shape that you simply cannot buy. Sure, you can purchase fitness equipment, workout clothes, shakers, protein powder, or even the services of a personal trainer.
The gear you buy might help you feel more confident in the gym. Protein powder can help you hit your nutrition goals. And a personal trainer (like me!) can guide you, take out the guesswork, and hold you accountable. But none of these things can provide you with this vital element 100% of the time. Can you guess what it is?
I’m talking about discipline. It's something that applies to many areas of life, but when it comes to fitness, discipline is a game changer. You can’t find it on a shelf or have it handed to you by someone else. It has to come from within.
It's something you build, something you nurture, and something you can train—just like your body. It’s intangible, but it’s also something that can grow, shrink, and change.
No one is going to drag you to the gym. No one will force you to skip that extra dessert. No one can make you track your calories or take the steps needed to grow. I wish there was a ‘skip dessert’ button on the remote, but we’re not there yet.
You can be inspired, motivated, and encouraged, but ultimately, the hard decisions come down to one thing: discipline.
As time goes on, you’ll build the discipline that helps you make those tough choices—the ones that are good for you even when they’re not the most appealing in the moment.
Delayed gratification is always better than instant gratification. The challenge is to make choices that are good for your future self, not just the easy ones now.
The average human attention span is just a few seconds these days, especially with the distractions of social media. Many struggle to focus, missing out on the benefits that require patience and persistence. But congratulations—you showed discipline by making it to the end of this email. Gold star for you!
Now, take action today. Feel good about the discipline you’ve just found, and start making the hard choices that will lead you to greatness.
I hope this text might help you throughout the week.
As always, if you need anything feel free to reach out. Email or phone :)
Warmest regards,
James Rogers
